List O' Stuff
- 2 Cups of Flour
- 2 Cups of Warm Water
- 1 Cup of Salt
- 2 Tablespoons of Vegetable Oil
- 1 Tablespoon Cream of Tarter (Optional but really helps with the elasticity)
- Food Coloring ( Liquid, Powder, or Kool-Aid type mixes)
- Scented Oils (Optional, but smelling pretty is a plus)
- Mix the flour, water, salt, vegetable oil, and cream of tarter in a pot over low heat. The mixture will start to look like mashed potatoes.
- When the dough starts to clump in the center pot, remove from heat.
- Allow dough to cool down
- Place the dough on a clean counter or silicone mat.
- Knead dough until it is silky smooth.
- Divide the dough into balls
- Poke a little divot in the ball and drop in the food coloring. Work the dough until the color is throughout.
- Play 'til your hearts content
- Store in an airtight container
- If the dough is still sticky, just cook it a bit longer.
- Try to keep the dye away from your hands and counter. Gloves and plastic wrap will keep the color where it should be.
- The "Kool-Aid" type dyes will not go as far as the real dyes.
- If it starts to dry out you can knead a bit of water back into it.
- If it gets soggy, you can reheat to cook off some of the water.
- You can bake this dough and paint it afterwards!
